After a brief hiatis I am back, and I thought I would start this week with a look at three of the hottest and coldest teams in the league. This ranking is based on the last 10 games of each team, so this list might vary from an overall season ranking to date. Let's get this started. Enjoy!

3) Winnipeg Jets

Last 10 games: 7-2-1

Current winning streak: 2 games

Goals scored in last 10 games: 37

Goals allowed in last 10 games: 25

Notes: Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele has been on a rampart tear for the team. Combined, these two players have scored 69 points. Second only to Stamkos/Kucherov as the best duo in the league. Add that and the fact that Connor Hellebuyck has already won 14 games, and you have one of the hottest teams in the league

2) Montreal Canadians

Last 10 games: 5-3-2

Current winning streak: 5 games

Goals scored in last 10 games: 32

Goals allowed in last 10 games: 25

Notes: It is more the last 5 games that really stand out for the Habs. In their last 5 games (all wins) they have scored 24 goals and only given up 6. That's insane statistics! Has Carey Price's return resurrected a team that was left for dead? Who knows, but in a weak Atlantic Division, Montreal is back in the playoff hunt.

1) Columbus Blue Jackets

Last 10 games:8-2-1

Current winning streak: 0

Goals scored in last 10 games: 26

Goal scored in last 10 games: 17

Notes: The Jackets will not wow you with the talent, but they are the most efficient team currently in the league. They can win those tight games, and have a goalie who is in Vezina-esque form. That equates to them currently being the hottest team in the league.

Now let's have a look at the three coldest teams in the league:

3) Detroit Red Wings

Last 10 games: 2-4-4

Current losing streak: 7 games

Goals scored in last 10 games: 26

Goals allowed in last 10 games:41

Notes: What the hell happened? Detroit started the season strong, and look poised to be a playoff contender, but the wheels have fallen off the wagon. (especially in the last 5 games) In the past five game they have given up 26 goals!! Ouch. Neither Jimmy Howard or Petr Mrazek are getting it done, and their weak defensive core is showing it's ugly head.

2) Buffalo Sabres

Last 10 games: 1-8-1

Current losing streak: 4 games

Goals scored in last 10 games: 16

Goals allowed in last 10 games: 34

Notes: Ahhh you count on the Sabres for one thing this season, and that is being consistently horribly terribe..... This team cant score! They have been shutout in 3 of their last 4 games. Jack Eichel has been a disappointment, and there is no end in sight for this teams mediocrity.

1) Philadelphia Flyers

Last 10 games: 0-5-5

Current losing streak: 10 games

Goals scored in last 10 games:20

Goals allowed in last 10 games: 37

Notes: Something is a mist in Philly.....They have basically become a "one-line" team, and as usual, goaltending is a problem! Changes need to be made with team, but it might be too late. The Flyers are in the toughest division in the league, which will make their task even that more difficult.
