Is the Oil well already dry?

In a epic battle of Crosby vs McDavid last night, it was Crosby's gang that came out with 3-2 win over the Oilers. The Oilers were handed their 7th loss of the season, which I think is a complete shock, given what we saw from this team last year. Even more shocking is that they only have 24 goals in 11 games, which puts them dead last in the league. They have pretty much been regelated to a one line team. So what happened?

Well for one, the Taylor Hall trade was a big mistake. Yeah, the Oilers needed a top tier defenseman, but Adam Larsson has not progressed into the player people thought he would. Then the Oilers made an audacious trade this offseason, trading Jordan Eberle for Ryan Strome. Eberle was the heart and soul of the Oilers for me, so when this trade occured, I was not pleased. Strome was a player that benifited from playing with Tavares, so his numbers were inflated. What has Strome done so far??? 1 G, 4 pts, and -2 in 11 games. Those are not great states at all. Then there is the mystery of Jesse Puljujarvi. The supposed next Teemu Selanne, is currently in the AHL. I understand if he needs more time to develop, but if things continue to go sour for the Oilers, they might have no choice but to bring him up. Whatever the case, something has got to give for the Oilers. This is not the start we all expected from them.

Here are the other results from last night's games:

Chicago 3

Philadelphia 0

Comments: Crawford with his 1st shutout of the season for the Hawks

New Jersey 2

Vancouver 0

Comments: Cory Scheinder shuts the door on his former team, and the Devils won their 9th game of the season

Toronto 3

Anaheim 1

Comments: The Leafs got back on the winning trail. 2 points by Patrick Marleau

San Jose 4

Nashville 1

Comments: Joonas Donski had his 4th goal of the season in the win for the Sharks.
