Blake Wheeler and the Winnipeg Jets showed the "Pen"guins just how mighty they could be. Wheeler had the hat trick in a 7-1 thumping of the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. The Pens are now giving up an average of 3.84 goals a game, and that won't take them far! It is a far cry from last seasons Stanley Cup run.
As for the Winnipeg Jets, after a slow start to the season, they are soaring! Connor Hellebuyck is undefeated to start the season, and is looking sharp. Patrick Laine is off to a slow start (6 pts in 10 games which is "slow" by his standards) but you have to believe that he will surely breakout soon. He is just too talented not to.
In other games from last night, Ryan Miller had his first win as a Anaheim Duck in a 4-3 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Calgary climbed back to the .500 mark with a 2-1 victory over the slumping Washington Capitals. The Caps are currently 6th in the Metropolitan Division. A far cry from their performance last season. Ovechkin does have 10 goals, but the team is not getting secondary scoring, and their goalies are not making the big saves. It is still early, but all is not cheery in the nations capital.
