After missing the start of the season, due to shoulder surgery performed during this summer, Alexander Steen played his 4th game of the season last night. After scoring 0 points in his first three games, the "Steen" engine broke out for four points in a 5-2 Blues win over the Calgary Flames. Although he is not the prolific scorer that his father Thomas Steen was, Alex has still had a solid career. (536 points in 826 games) He does provide consistency, and if can stay heatlhy, he could easily put up 40-50 points this season.

Speaking of St.Louis, they are off to a steam powered boost to start the season. 7 wins 2 losses and OT loss in 10 games. They already have 4 players with 10 or more points, and Brayden Schenn has to be one of the biggest surprises with 9 points. No singing the "Blues" so far this season.

In the only other game last night, the Columbus Blue Jackets had the Buffalo Sabres in straight jackets, with a 5-1 victory. Seth Jones had two points in the win. A fairly quiet evening for the NHL, but that changes tonight. There are some big match ups tonight. So tune in tomorrow for my thoughts.
