Yep, in Montreal Canadians case, old habits truly die hard.
It is only three games into the season, but it is a clear that Montreal is going to have alot of problems this season. Their defense is very "enimic" to say the best. Gone are speed demons like Subban, Beaulieu, and Markov. Yes at 38 years old Markov is faster than the majority of the Habs current defensemen. Jeff Petry and Karl Azner are a combined -8 to start the season, and look lost at times.
In regards to scoring, well there is none, and that was to be expected. Losing Radulov is really going to have a severe impact on this team. Mainly because now there will be so much pressure on Jonathan Drouin and Max Pacioretty.
When you look at a team like Toronto, and see what team that they have become.... Well, it has to create a bit of envy in Habs fans. Toronto knew how things needed to go. They had several seasons of futilty, they accepted that. They accepted that fan would be upset, and they would have to lay a few goose eggs. However, they knew things would turn around. They brought in a proven coach, and groomed their young talent. Look at Toronto now. They have one of the better teams in the league.
Habs management doesn't realize this, and they are not ready to take any chances. They are stuck with their horse blinders on, and have only one direction in sight. Which appears to be mediocrity. Enjoy the season Habs fans, it is going to be a long one!
