Have I mentioned before how much I love seeing Brandon Saad play when he was with the Hawks? Well, last night was a perfect reason why I appreciate him. Ok, the Hawks had to trade super stud Artemi Panarin to get him. That one hurt, but a sacrfice for the greater good i suppose....
Saad and the Hawks opened up a gigantic can of whoop ass on the defending Cup Champions last night. 10 to 1. Ouch, that ones going to leave a mark!Saad had the hat-trick ,Ryan Hartman and Patrick Kane each had 5 points. It was just a complete thralling of the flightless birds. Sidney Crosby was -4 for the night. How many times has that happened? It is just one game, but I like what I see in Chicago.
The Buffalo Sabres are a much better team than last year. They have alot of speed and talent, and will be a competitive team this season. There is just one problem... They have Robin Lehner in net. Last night Lehner showed signs of brillance, and also signs of complete oblivion. This is a goalie who's confidene is shaken, not stirred. A habit he has not been able to "shake" since he has been in the league. Another incredible fact is he can't stop a puck in the shootout. Last year he let 8 goals on 8 shots during the shootout! Yikes. Last night he let in 2 goals on 3 shots. (And the one that didn't go in, hit the crossbar) So Sabres management, you need to do something about this, and quick.
Here are the results from last night's games
