Welcome to the first edition of the Blog Playoff review. Within these articles I will discuss recent game results, and anything related to the NHL 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.Today I will spotlight the Anaheim Ducks sweep over the Calgary Flames.
With the Duck 3-1 victory last night over the Flames, they became the 1st team to advance to the second round. They will face the winner of the Edmonton-San Jose series. Anaheim has looked very impressive so far. Yes, 3 of their 4 playoff games against the Flames were 1 goals games. As well, if the Flames don't blow their lead in game 3, the series might have taken another turn. However, the Ducks pulled out the sweep, and looked poised to go very far in the playoffs. Shea Theodore has stepped up for the injured Cam Fowler with 2 goals and 3 assists. Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry are also producing, something that they had trouble doing at times at during the regular season.
Nevertheless, they still have a long road to go. The Ducks have had early post season in the past, but often falter in the 2nd and 3rd round. It is also worthy to note that even though John Gibson won 3 games, he did happen to give up 8 goals. The Ducks don't truly have an established Number 1 goalie, so that could be a concern for them going forward.
Either way, the Ducks get to sit back, and await their next opponent. They also should have Cam Fowler back for the second round, which is great news. For now, all is Ducky in Anaheim
