It's time again for the "Weekly Warrior". Today we take a look at Nicklas Backstrom, from the Washington.
Let's have a look at his statistics for his season:
GP=51
G =14
A =37
Pts = 51
Plus/Minus = 13
EV goals (Even Strength) =11
ATOI: 18:14
FO% =52.0
Nicklas Backstrom is one of the most consistent scorers in the league. Year in, and year out, he can be counted on to score 70-80 points. It much give the coaches reassurance, knowing they can always count on him. He is not going to dominate the league, but he still can be a top 10 NHL scorer.
Once again Backstrom is on pace of a 80+ point season. He center the Capitals top line, and wins plenty of face offs. There still doubts about him though, as when it comes to the playoffs, he kind of disappears. (Of course that seems to be the case for most Capitals) Until then, if you have him in your pool, enjoy! As he is a solid contributor, and a player that can make a difference. He scores alot of even strength goals as well. The best part of Backstrom's game is that he is only 29 years old! He has already close to 700 points, and there is no reason why he can put up 70-80 points for at least 5 more season. A true unsung hero, that doesn't get the attention he deserves.
