Malkin has been overshadowed by Sidney Crosby at times, but he is truly one of the NHL's elite players. Injuries have been a concern for him in the past, but he is currently in 100% form. His stats this year are very indicative of that, which currently makes him one of the best players in the league.
Malkin is a very quiet player, who stays out of the limelight. He also doesn't give many interviews outside the locker room, which irks much of the NHL media. Also his compatibility with Crosby has not always been solid.
However, Malkin has proven that he can take the Penguins on his shoulders, and lead them when needed. He is a Conne Symthe trophy winner, Hart trophy winner, and a perennial star. He is a very consistent player, and someone you can rely on to get the job done.
Malkin is currently having his best season, since the 2008-09 season, and that is good news for the Penguins. With Crosby and Malkin, the Penguins have a two headed monster, that is going to be very hard to slay.
