Welcome to a new spotlight blog, where we will be looking at birthday's of current/retired NHL players. As an added bonus, I will compare points between active players, and retired players. A Bithday Blog Battle of sorts. I personally think it is fun and interesting to find out when NHL players are born. Maybe you share a birthday with one of your favorite NHL stars! This will become a weekly blog article, so if you like this one, you will be happy to know that there will be more like it.
This week we start off by looking at birthday's from players born between December 5th to 11th. First we start with a list of active players:

Interesting that Montreal, Philadelphia, and Winnipeg all have 2 current roster players that have birthdays this week. Now I LOVE statistics, so let's have fun. Here is the combined total numbers of games, goals, assists, and points of the above players.
GP= 5458
G = 798
A = 1636
Pts = 2434
Cool!! Milan Michalek leads the way of that group with 446 points in 747 games
Now here is a list of notable retired stars:
-OliJokinen (December 5th) 38 years old
-Gerry Cheevers (December 7th) 76 years old
-Georges Laraque (December 7th) 40 years old
-Peter Laviolette (December 7th) 52 years old
-Red Berenson (December 8th) 77 years old
-Pit Martin (December 9th) 65 years old
-Petr Nedved (December 9th) 45 years old
-Rob Blake (December 10th) 47 years old
-Daniel Alfredsson (December 11th) 44 years old
-Dave Gagner ( December 11th) 52 years old
-J.P. Parise (December 11th) Passed away in 2015 at the age of 73
-Pierre Pilote (December 11th) 85 years old
How about we look at these players stats as well. See if they compare with those of active NHL players.
GP = 10,668
G = 2589
A = 4254
Pts = 6843
Ok, so the retired stars have played twice as many games as the active players. However, even if we double the active players totals, they still don't match the point output of the retired stars. So the retired stars when this round.
I do hope that you enjoy this blog, and check back next week for more birthday blog battles.
