It's time once again to go back in time, and revisit the 2009 NHL draft! I will highlight my top 5 steals, and top 5 busts of the draft from that year.
First off, my top 5 steals:

Drafted: 4th Round 106th overall by the Anaheim Ducks
Position: Defense
-He has become one of the Ducks top defenseman. Capable of putting up 40-50 points a season, and logging big time minutes (Currently an ATOI fo 22:28) A mainstay on the backline for many years to come.

Drafted: 6th Round 152nd overall by the NY Islanders
Position: Forward
- He is off to a slow start this season, however that is the case for many Islanders. Still 2 years ago he scored 25 goals, and there is no reason why he couldn't do that again. At the 6th round, he was an absolute steal.

Drafted: 5th round 149th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks
Position: Forward
- Solid two way forward, excellent faceoff center. A crucial part of the Hawks team, and 3 time Stanley Cup winner. Also has a cool last name, that takes me back to 80's horror films.

Drafted: 4th Round 102nd overall by the Nashville Predators
Position: Defenseman
- The Preds have a habit of drafting excellent defenseman and Ekholm is another example of this. 35 points last year, and an average ATOI of 23:18 minutes this season. Solid numbers.

Drafted: 5th Round 130th overall by the Ottawa Senators
Position: Forward
- What a turn around for a kid who has played in the OHL, QMJHL, AHL, ECHL and NHL. 27 goals two years ago, and 29 last year. By far and away the Sens best forward.
And now for the top 5 busts:

Drafted: 1st Round 9th overall by the Ottawa Senators
Position: Defense
He was given many chances to shine in Ottawa, and never reached his potential. He was looked at as the next Chris Phillips.Traded to Toronto last year, and the Leafs are trying to buy him out. However, due to a nagging Hip Injury, they are in limbo with him. Ouch

Drafted: 1st Round 29th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning
Position: Forward
-Another Saskatoon kid (like Cowen) who just never found his place in the league. Currently playing in the KHL, and will most likely never return to the NHL

Drafted: 1st Round 27th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes
Position: Forward
- Has been with 3 different organizations (Carolina, Chicago, Tampa Bay) and has played a whopping total of 1 NHL game. AHL lifer. So much talent, yet so inconsistent.

Drafted: 1st Round 18th overall by the Montreal Canadiens
Position: Forward
- Could never live up to the hype. So much was said how this kid would be a star, and look at him. 10 points in 50 career games. He was placed on waivers by the Islander this year, and now is playing in the KHL. This one is a painful reminder for Habs fans
And now for #1....

Drafted: 1st Round 8th overall by the Dallas Stars
Position: Forward
- Speed, skill, and talent abroad. That is what Glennie had. However his defensive game was well.. lacking. Only 1 NHL game and currently in the Winnipeg Jets farm system. Injuries set him back, but he is one of the biggest bust in NHL draft history.
