If your Canadian, and you grew up in the late 70's/early 80's you might remember the TV series "The Littlest Hobo". It was a story about a owner-less German Shepard dog going around and saving various people in precarious situations, and then moving on to another place. Well, we know have the NHL version of that series, and it stars Mike Condon.
3 teams in less than 1 year, doesn't bold well for Condon. I mean those are Brent Ashton type of numbers. However, Condon can always be counted on to serve a purpose. Opps, just had a chuckle there... I was remembering a friend who thought his name was "Condom". Ok, time to refocus.
In all seriousness, I do like Mike Condon. I think he did an admirable job in Montreal last year, when Price was injured. A rookie, in Montreal, replacing Carey Price. That's like a kamikaze mission right there.. In all the craziness last year, he still won 21 games. Then when was put on waivers by the Habs this fall, and he moved on to Pittsburgh to do some patchwork. With Matt Murray injured, it gave the Pens a dependable backup. (Who happened to only play 1 game with them) Then with Matt Murray coming back this week, he was traded to Ottawa for his next adventure to begin. Last night was his 1st game with the Sens, and he had his 2nd career shutout. (Even if it was against the Canucks, it still counts) The guy can play in the NHL, I just think he is regulated to being a career backup goaltender.
With the uncertainty of what will happen with Craig Anderson, Condon might just have found a place he can hang around for the rest of the season. If not, I am sure this "Littlest Hockey Hobo" can move on, and find another team that needs his assistance. Ohhh having a nostalgia
moment, so let me end this article with the following video:
