You Ott to know

Come on Steve.... You Outta know.. What, do I have to bring out that Alan Morissette CD from my closet, to make things clearer? You are already a fringe NHLer player, who's career is about to come to an end. Don't be a Raffi Torres.

Yes, it is Monday morning, and as you can see I am riled up! Steve Ott has got me in a "perturbed" mood, for those who are wondering why. Here is a video showing Steve Ott's best "spear" attempt of the season. Guess this is part of his Halloween costume?

To me, spearing another player is the ultimate low blow (no pun intended) in hockey. It's a classless, gutless act in my mind. Now yes, Chara does have the habit of getting under other player's skin, and yes, he has been naughty more than nice at times. However, still after 13 years in the league, you would think Ott would know better? What is even more frustrating is that the NHL only fined Ott $2,222.22 for the infraction. Yes, that is the maximum fine they can give him, and what a strange number, but come on! It's is not like this is the first incident for Ott.

1/30/2004 Fined $1,000 by the NHL

3/12/2008 Suspended by the NHL for three games

3/02/2009 Suspended by the NHL for 1 game

10/27/2009 Suspended by the NHL for two games

Ott is a pesky player, and I do like that style, (ex. Gallagher, Marchand) but you have to know your limit. For me, "spearing" goes beyond that. Just seems like a total lack of respect for the other person. That just doesn't jive well with me. So as I said earlier Steve... You Otta Know better.
